People’s Summer Activist Series!

hosted by Indivisible Charlottesville

Thursdays, 6-8pm, starting May 22

Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church

1901 Thomson Rd, Charlottesville

Join us on Thursday evenings this summer to learn more about the how and why of our fight against fascism. How do we organize a protest, and plan a campaign, to create tangible changes in our lives here and now? How do we practice daily actions to protect each other from the grips of an authoritarian state? How do we connect across communities and issue areas? What have we learned from resistance movements in the U.S. and elsewhere? What have we learned from each other here in Charlottesville? Join as many sessions as you can – let’s build power!

We hope folks who join these sessions will learn to:

  • Understand yourself as part of long-standing global freedom struggles

  • Decide how you will engage in activism and what roles are best for you

  • Welcome new people into our activist communities

  • Protect yourself and each other at protests

  • Work together to make plans and take action against fascism

We will start each evening with a dinner potluck and time to socialize. Bring food if you’re able! We join a long legacy of Southern communities eating and learning together as we grow movements for collective liberation!

The sessions are free, but if you are able, we are asking for a voluntary $5 contribution for each one you attend to help cover our costs. You can donate ahead of time here, or donate at the door.

Access information:

  • Masks will be provided and encouraged. There is outdoor space for eating, and we will use air purifiers.
