Our Summer Activist’s Series continues Thursday August 7! Come join us to learn more about the how and why of our fight against fascism.
How do we organize a protest, and plan a campaign, to create tangible changes in our lives here and now?
How do we practice daily actions to protect each other from the grips of an authoritarian state?
How do we connect across communities and issues?
What have we learned from resistance movements in the U.S. and elsewhere?
What have we learned from each other here in Charlottesville? Join as many sessions as you can – let’s build power!
De-escalation Skills for Community Defense: Conflicts Among Organizers
Conflicts among social justice community organizers are often used by the state to divide and weaken our movements. We don’t have to agree with each other on everything, but we do need skills for moving through conflicts in ways that strengthen our relationships, clarify our goals and boundaries, and support each other’s continued involvement in taking action against fascism. We will discuss common patterns of conflicts among social justice organizers, the emotional ups and downs of conflict, and some tools to keep each other safe and keep our movements growing.
