VIRGINIA VOTER GUIDE

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you are in line by 7 p.m., you have the right to vote. Not sure about registration, ID, your polling place, or early voting? Start at Virginia's Citizen Portal. You can check your registration, find your polling place, see your sample ballot, and track a mail ballot there.

KEY DATES

Friday, October 23: Last day to register or update your registration. NOTE: if you miss this deadline, you can still register and cast a provisional ballot on election day!

Through Saturday, October 31: Early in-person voting ends

Tuesday, November 3: Election Day. Same-day registration is available through this date.

REGISTER OR UPDATE YOUR REGISTRATION

How do I register to vote? Virginia allows online, mail, and in-person registration. Start at the Citizen Portal.

What if I miss the registration deadline? Same-day registration is available after the regular deadline through Election Day. Voters who use it cast a provisional ballot. Details HERE.

I moved or changed my name. What should I do? Use the Citizen Portal to check and update your registration.

HOW YOU CAN VOTE

Early in person: Vote at your local registrar's office or another early-voting site before Election Day. Find your polling location here.

On Election Day: Vote at your assigned polling place, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find your polling location here.

We encourage you to vote in person. If you requested a mail-in ballot, you can drop those off at your polling location. In addition, curbside voting (from your car) is always available upon request (call your registrar’s office to find out more - you can find their phone number here). However, if a mail-in ballot is your only or best option, you may request a ballot online here.

WHAT IDENTIFICATION CAN I BRING?

Virginia voters are asked for acceptable identification. A voter who arrives without acceptable ID can sign an ID Confirmation Statement and vote a regular ballot. A photo ID is not required.
