Trump, Riggleman, and Impeachment
President Trump used the powers of the office of President of the United States of America to extort a foreign country to manufacture dirt on one of Trump’s domestic political rivals.
He withheld hundreds of millions of dollars of military aid from a country under direct attack by Russia, one of the countries most fervently opposed to democracy, in order to coerce that country to interfere in an American presidential election.
Since the House Intelligence Committee was first informed of an Intelligence Community whistleblower complaint—illegally withheld from Congress—which implicated Trump in misbehavior regarding the president of a foreign country, there has been an unending barrage of new reporting fleshing out the details and confirming the enormity of the behavior. The plot has also been confirmed by multiple documents that have been released to the public, not least the partial transcript of a phone call between the two presidents. And Trump has admitted to it in public!
The involvement of foreign countries in our domestic political affairs was one of the outcomes most feared by those who wrote our Constitution. There has never been a clearer case of exactly that.
Indivisible Charlottesville supports the impeachment inquiry currently underway in the House of Representatives. If the facts as now known are verified, the President must be impeached and removed from office.
We demand that Congressman Riggleman uphold the oath he swore to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
We hope that the Congressman will not continue to betray his country and his oath, in support of the most corrupt and lawless President in American history.
