Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church
1901 Thomson Rd, Charlottesville
Our Summer Activist’s Series continues Thursday July 31! Come join us to learn more about the how and why of our fight against fascism.
How do we organize a protest, and plan a campaign, to create tangible changes in our lives here and now?
How do we practice daily actions to protect each other from the grips of an authoritarian state?
How do we connect across communities and issues?
What have we learned from resistance movements in the U.S. and elsewhere?
What have we learned from each other here in Charlottesville? Join as many sessions as you can – let’s build power!
We Refuse: Collective Non-Cooperation to Topple Authoritarianism
Let’s look at antifascist approaches to refuse compliance with authoritarianism. We will talk about theories and examples of non-cooperation with fascism. We’ll reflect on what actions – or inactions – we could imagine ourselves choosing, and what support we might need. We’ll envision how non-cooperation strategies can be embedded in small teams and broad networks to build mass movements against fascism.
