We Keep Us Safe: How We Prepare for Police in City Schools

  • Legal Aid Justice Center 1000 Preston Avenue Charlottesville, VA, 22902 United States (map)

On August 25, local families are invited to a community gathering (details below) to prepare for the return of School Resource Officers (SROs), aka police officers, to Charlottesville City Schools. The gathering will include a community discussion where families can share concerns, ask questions, and build community; a presentation on restorative discipline in city schools; and recommendations for how parents and caregivers can help prepare their children. Light snacks and sodas will be served, and children are welcome.

Whether you’re concerned that your child may be at risk or want to stand in solidarity with students and families who have historically been harmed by police in schools, you are welcome to join the gathering.

Parking is available behind LAJC
