All Hands Meeting

  • Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charlottesville 717 Rugby Road Charlottesville, VA, 22903 United States (map)

The stakes this November are clear. In addition to everything that is at stake nationally, in addition to electing congressional representatives, this fall Virginians will vote on three major constitutional amendments that could shape the future of rights and democracy in the Commonwealth:

  • The Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment would protect the right to abortion in the Virginia Constitution and safeguard reproductive freedom for future generations.

  • The Marriage Equality Amendment would repeal Virginia’s outdated same-sex marriage ban and establish constitutional protections for same-sex and interracial marriage.

  • The Voting Rights Restoration Amendment would automatically restore voting rights to formerly incarcerated Virginians, expanding participation in our democracy.

This election is about freedom, dignity, equality, and who has the power to fully participate in democracy.

The months ahead will require all of us to organize, to volunteer, to talk to neighbors, to show up, and to refuse to give in to cynicism or exhaustion. This meeting will focus on what we can do locally to prepare for the November election and how we can work together to build stronger, more engaged communities.

This will be a working meeting; we’re going to build teams, make plans, and get to work.
