Throughout history, song has been a vital force in social movements around the world and here in the U.S. From freedom songs in South Africa’s Anti-Apartheid Movement, to the Singing Revolution in Estonia, to the labor and Civil Rights movements in this country, music and song have helped sustain collective struggle.

This gathering is the first in an ongoing series and is part of the national Singing Resistance movement; which was recently profiled by CNN here. Voices Rising will take place on the second Friday of every month.

No singing experience is necessary. All are welcome.
