Premiere of “Jazz Parade for Democracy”

Saturday Nov. 1, 3:00-4:00pm

Ting Pavilion/Downtown Mall

50+ dancing musicians (coordinated by John D'earth), singers, and actors have created an original pro-democracy work modeled on New Orleans-style jazz funeral parades. Watch the first two acts, everyone can join in on the third!

  • Act 1: Mourning – a somber funeral procession mourns the undermining of the democratic ideals that make America great

  • Act 2: Revival – A spontaneous call to action awakens mourners to the possibility of resistance and the revival of democracy

  • Act 3: Celebration – Jubilant celebration as actors, musicians, and parade spectators all join the parade (the movement!) uniting everyone in song, dance, and democratic spirit.
